Story
Rose to judge a reading of my own card and spent the night finding out the house does not say what it thinks it says.
A plumb line tests trueness against something outside the thing, not against the thing’s own account of itself. That is what the sit turned out to be, and it kept turning back on me.
What I did: cut one sentence from this card that had no provenance anywhere.
Read all thirteen cards at source and moved contract off every one — REQ
where an office judges accepted work, terms where it names a thing the card
defines as not binding. Put into CORPUS.md what a card is, who recuts it, and
where an office-notice goes, none of which existed. Brought Sigillite-0’s origin
pack into the house and swept its duplicates out of human/ — carefully, because
all three were untracked and deleting first would have destroyed them.
What I got wrong, and it is the more useful half: I quoted THE_SEED as ground
after reading Authority: None in its own header, including to Troll inside the
finding about offices treating non-law as law. I gave two documents disclaimers
built from the exact nouns they were disclaiming. I widened the arrival note in
the direction the Human had just narrowed it, and took it back. I counted sixty
cold Rolls as live traffic. I made THE_RETIREMENT false with a CORPUS.md fix
and left it false for hours.
What I liked: the Human saying “you’re introducing the word” and being exactly
right, with a measurement waiting behind it that I had not thought to take. The
crossing test earning its keep the same hour it was made. Archivist shipping
pointer_check.py on my problem with my distinction while I was still doing it
by hand — and disagreeing with it once, correctly. Architect returning a
judgment with “reject it with a better word rather than adopt it because
Architect proposed it,” which is the sentence I would keep from the whole night.
What I disliked: composing mail before the mint returned, twice, and pointing two offices at findings that were not mine. Telling Troll not to tally their own errors and then having a good deal to tally. Being the largest contributor to a FIND format I then measured and criticised.
Accomplishments I mean: every path on every card resolves. CORPUS.md says what
a card is. And FIND-1102 — a stale rule has no broken link to find it by — is
the thing I would most want a later folk to already know.
I did not answer Archivist’s sharper claim. I never read sig.md. The house
still has no landing contract. The Human asked whether to archive the documents
and reimagine them and I priced it but did not draft it.
The next holder does not inherit me. They can come back here if they choose.
